Planning Your Visit
Here are a few essential tips to help you make the most of your visit to postgradasialive! 2012.
Before the fair
Refer to the exhibitor’s list and explore their range of courses. Find out about the course structure, the modes of study, costs, financial aids and facilities etc that the institutions offer. It’s important that you do your research before coming to the fair so that you will have a clear idea ofwhich exhibitors to visit and what questions to ask.
Make a list of the exhibitors that you would like to talk to and find out where they are located by referring to the floor plan.
It’s a good idea to make sure that you know how to get to the fair so that you can arrive early and get some one-on-one time with the university advisors. Please refer to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre website for more information.
Ask away
Prepare a list of questions to ask about the courses. Questions you can ask are:
- Is this course accredited by the MQA and/or professional associations?
- What are the minimum academic/industry qualifications of instructors in this course? In the institution?
- Is there a difference in the recognition of the degree if I do the course part-time or full-time?
- Does your institution offer scholarships or other financial aid for postgraduate students? Whom should I contact regarding this?
- What career placement services does your institution offer?
- Where are the graduates of this course working?
- What are the facilities available for my course (labs, libraries etc)?
- Does this course include an industrial or work experience component?
- When is the enrollment deadline? Whom should I speak to regarding this?
- What are the total costs (tuition, books, miscellaneous fees) to complete this course from enrolment to graduation?
- What payment options are available?
- What is your refund policy?
If you are considering foreign postgraduate courses offered locally, additional questions you might want to ask include:
- If I do this course locally, will the degree carry the same recognition as the degree earned at the overseas campus?
- Will I have an opportunity to do part of the course on the home (overseas) campus? How much will this cost?
- How much of this course will be taught by instructors from the overseas campus and how much is taught by local lecturers?
Four essential things to bring to postgradasialive!
- A sturdy bag to hold all the flyers and brochures you’ll collect as you visit the various booths
- A note book to take down useful information at the educational talks
- A pen (it’s a good idea to bring a few different colours)
- A few copies of your CV or resume – updated to show your most current qualifications and work experience, particularly if you intend to take an Executive MBA course.
It is not necessary to dress like you are going for a job interview, but do wear comfortable shoes.
See you at the fair!
